Teaser Tuesday (7)

“Lulu,” I say into the pillow. It’s not even her real name, but it feels like a betrayal. – Just One Year (Just One Day #2) – page 64

I’m really loving this book. It’s one of those “why haven’t I been reading this for the past few weeks” books. I really enjoyed the first one, and so far I’m liking that one better. My friend told me that I need to read the novella for this series/duology as well. I plan on finishing this before the week is over. :)

Teaser Tuesday (6)

“What shall we toast?” she asks. “To new ventures? A new future.”

I shake my head. “Let’s drink to the accidents.” – Just One Year (Just One Day #2) – Page 37

This is the part when Willem goes back to a place he hasn’t been in a while and is sad and worried about things going on in his life. Just One Day was an amazing book, and this one is just as good, if not better, so far. This has been one of my favorite parts of this book thus far. I am only 43 pages in, but it’s very good. Once you start reading it you won’t want to stop.

Teaser Tuesday (5)

“Strange is our situation here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to divine a purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know – that man is here for the sake of other men.” – Albert Einstein – The Power of Half – Page 205

This really stood out to me and I decided to share it. At the beginning of every new chapter, there is a quote depicting what the chapter will be about. I love this and think that it can be so powerful. I love what this family did; sold their house, built schools and safe houses with the money they got from their house, went to Africa. It’s a really great book. It is so extremely slow in the beginning of the book. There are literally 242 pages. I could read that many pages in a single day easily if I just sat down and read. I will have a review up tomorrow, I promise. Now that I’ve said that, I actually have to. #helpfultipsfromablogger

Teaser Tuesday (4) + Readathon Update

“If you have a front door, you have so much more than people in the villages of Ghana. Imagine your family living in a one room house made of mud, with no running water or electricity.” The Power of Half – Page 42

I think that this is really powerful to think about. This book is about a family who decides to give up their “perfect” lifestyle (fancy cars, fancy house, lots of money), for something more ordinary. The family of four decides to sell their house and buy one that’s worth half as much. It is a really great read so far, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes organizations like Toms or Krochet Kids.

Today is the second day of the Bout of Books Readathon, and I haven’t read anything today…. Still putting my page count at 37. I plan on reading in a little while, though. this weekend will be a great time to read because there is a long car ride in my future. What is your page count for the week?

Teaser Tuesday (3)

“The job of every generation is to discover the flaws of the one that came before it. That’s part of growing up, figuring out all the ways your parents and their friends are broken.” Zombies vs. Unicorns – page 237

So, technically didn’t open right up to this page, but this is my favorite part of this book. This book is genuinely hilarious…and scary…and weird. It’s a good mixture of randomness. Definitely Team Zombie, though.

I haven’t done a Teaser Tuesday in over a year! Okay, I have no idea why because I love doing these posts. I plan on doing them from now on :)

Teaser Tuesday (2)

I haven’t done a Teaser Tuesday in so long! What you do is grab the book you’re currently reading, open to a random page, and share two sentences from that page. This week is from City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments #3) – Cassandra Clare.

“Close enough to do what?”

“To kill him,” said Jace. “What else?”

-City of Glass, page 343
