Top Ten Tuesday (3)

This week on Top Ten Tuesday is Top Ten Books that Will Make You Swoon. I have picked some books that have really well written romance in them and the ones I really liked. :)

1. The Fault in Our Stars – John Green *review*

Hazel Grace and Augustus have one of my absolute favorite romances from any book I’ve ever read. It’s so cute and so real. I think something like that could actually happen and I really enjoyed that throughout the book.

2. Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell *review*

I love love love Cath and Levi’s relationship in this book. This couple is adorable. It was so cute that I almost think it couldn’t happen, but I still love it and its one of my favorite books.

3. Minutes Before Sunset (The Timely Death Trilogy #1) – Shannon A. Thompson *review*

I got the opportunity to read this book sent from Shannon Thompson herself and it surprised me how good it was. I love Eric and Jessica together. I love the idea of how their stories come together and it is amazingly written.

4. The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden (The Coincidence #1) – Jessica Sorensen

Okay, I’m excited now. I just looked this up on Goodreads and saw there were three books in this series. Oh my goodness. I need to reread this book anyway because I really enjoyed it, but now I can read the others as well! Oh em gee. Anyway, I love this book. This is the first New Adult book I read and I had no idea what New Adult was at the time. I thought it was a Young Adult book, but then I read it and NOT YA. I love Callie and Kayden though and cannot wait to reread and read the sequels.

5. It’s Not Summer Without You (Summer #2) – Jenny Han *review*

I am really enjoying these books and I love Belly and Conrad and Belly and Jeremiah for different reasons. At the beginning I was team Conrad, but then once I read the second book I was rooting for Jeremiah. Jenny Han did an excellent job of giving both of them an equal chance with Belly, but I hope she ends up with Jeremiah.

6. Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) – Richelle Mead *review*

Lissa and Dimitri are absolutely perfect together and it makes it even better because their love is “forbidden.” It’s the perfect Romeo and Juliet kind of thing…. except with vampires…. :)

7. Envy (The Fury Trilogy #2) – Elizabeth Miles *review*

I love Em and her relationship the love interest. The end of the first book was better with this because you understood where they met and everything, but the second describes how she should have fallen for him before and she shouldn’t have had to have a run-in with the Furies. I really enjoy these books and they will definitely make you swoon.

8. Evolution (Evolution #1) – Kelly Carrero *review*

I absolutely adore the relationship between Jade and Aiden. I love how he is so protective of her and the whole story just makes me so happy.

9. City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) – Cassandra Clare

Clary and Jace are perfect. They are wonderful, but I want to have Jace all to myself, so they aren’t my favorite couple. I love Simon and Izzy, but Alec and Magnus are my favorite couple. They are so cute together and the TMI fandom doesn’t care that they’re gay. It makes them much more likeable because it’s different.

10. The Season – Sarah MacLean

I adore this book and I plan to reread it because I liked it so much. This is one of my favorite Historical Fiction novels because it’s very girly, but I really relate to the main character.

I just finished The Legend of the Moonstone: A Series for Kids and Young Adults – Meglena Ivanova. Check out my review! *linked above* I am currently reading It’s Not Summer Without You (Summer #2) – Jenny Han. I really enjoyed the first one and need a quick and light hearted read right now. I finished the first one in a day, so I think I’ll be able to finish this one relatively quick. I’m very excited about this book because, like I said, I loved the first. If I can manage to finish this book before the end of the month, I will pick up Shadowland (The Immortals #3) – Alyson Noël to continue on with the story.

Today I just finished Envy (The Fury Trilogy #2) – Elizabeth Miles and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. I cannot wait to pick up the last book in this series and finishing it out! I liked the first one, Fury (The Fury Trilogy #1) – Elizabeth Miles better than this one, but I still enjoyed the second installment. I like the characters in these books and, like I said, continue with the third. I just started The Legend of the Moonstone: A Series for Kids and Young Adults – Meglena Ivanova. I’m not far enough into it to know if I will enjoy it or not, but I’m excited to read it! It seems so interesting :)

4 out of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book so I have no idea why it took me so long to finish it. I like the storyline because it isn’t like anything I’ve ever read. I like the Greek mythology tie in to a “real life” story. I liked the first in the series better, but the end of this one just has me so hooked. I want to buy the last one right now and start it and then finish it soon after just so I know what happens. The end was the best part. Definitely a cliff-hanger.

I really like the characters in this story but Skylar got on my nerves so much. Nobody cares how much you’re in love. Get over it. It’s irritating having every single sentence that comes out of her mouth have to be about how she could get him to like her. Blah blah blah. It’s absolutely pointless. He doesn’t like you he likes your friend, now end of story. Em was much less whiney and much more driven in this book rather than the first. She wanted to know about the Furies so she took it into her own hands and found out. JD made me really sad because I loved that he had Em’s back in the first book but then basically didn’t remember Em in this one. Some of the choices Em made were sometimes questionable, but I still like her as a character.

Who Would I Be?:

I would be Skylar so then I could change the dialect of the story and make her not so boy crazy and striving to be the most popular girl in school. Be your own person, don’t pretend to be something you’re not.

It’s winter break in Ascension, Maine. The snow is falling and everything looks pristine and peaceful. But not all is as it seems…

Between cozy traditions and parties with her friends, Emily loves the holidays. And this year’s even better—the guy she’s been into for months is finally noticing her. But Em knows if she starts things with him, there’s no turning back. Because his girlfriend is Em’s best friend.

On the other side of town, Chase is having problems of his own. The stress of his home life is starting to take its toll, and his social life is unraveling. But that’s nothing compared to what’s really haunting him. Chase has done something cruel…something the perfect guy he pretends to be would never do. And it’s only a matter of time before he’s exposed.

In Ascension, mistakes can be deadly. And three girls—three beautiful, mysterious girls—are here to choose who will pay. Em and Chase have been chosen.

4 out of 5 stars

This plot was kind of shallow in my opinion actually. I don’t really know if this story happened within a few days, or months, but it was difficult with some of the characters. I liked the idea of the plot, but the way that it was carried out was planned as well as it could have been. I don’t really like books that take place in the winter just because I much prefer any other season than icy, snowy, nastiness. The wintriness was easy to get over, though. I like the place it happened being in Maine. I’d love to travel to places unknown to me, and I think this just gives me a glimpse into new places.

I liked the characters. I was really disappointed with what happened to Chase. I really thought that he and Em would have been perfect together, but then ‘The Furies’ came along. (What an idiot…. HP reference) Em was a good main character to follow, but it was really insta-love with Zach. I hate when insta-love happens, it’s just so irritating. I thought that i had liked Ty in the beginning, but then I figured out that she was fricking evil! Chase shouldn’t have had to be hurt that badly! And yet again, another case of insta-love mania. It just happened so quick that Chase fell for Ty and it was somewhat irritating. JD. Oh I love JD. JD is Em’s childhood friend. They are neighbors and always go over to each others houses. It’s just so cute. BUT NO. DON’T PICK THE GOOD GUY, PICK THE MAN-WHORE. gah.

Who Would I Be?:

  1. Okay, this sounds horrible, but I want to see what it would be like to be Ty. Even though she is evil, I think it would be awesome to see what it would be like to be in her head. And really who doesn’t want to have beautiful bright red hair?
  2. I wouldn’t necessarily want to be Em because she’s whiny and kind of a slut. She is. She got half naked with her best friend’s boyfriend….. Ha. Yeah, lets not go there.
  3. Would I want to be Gabby? Yes and no, I suppose. She is beautiful and she gets to go on vacations a lot. I wouldn’t want to have been tricked by Zach though, so no for that reason. It would get irritating being besties with Em, so probably not.
  4. Zach…. absolutely not. I have no desire to even want to be him. He hurt Gabby and Emily. I do not want to be known as a heart-breaker.
  5. I think being Chase would be hard. He’s always been made fun of for living in a trailer park and his dad died and that would be hard. He doesn’t have any extra money, but I would have liked to know what it would be like to fall in insta-love. (lol sarcasm)
  6. I would choose to be JD. Even though Em never really realizes and tells him that she loves him, I would want to be him. He dresses like a weirdo and he’s just so sweet. I would want to be him. I wouldn’t want to be in love with Em, but being JD would be fricking awesome.

#FridayReads (1)

#FridayReads is saying what you will be reading on Friday night (cause we’re losers) and over the weekend. Tonight I’m going to finish Fury (The Fury Trilogy #1) – Elizabeth Miles on the car ride to a Lego League competition for my brother. I am on page 290 of 370 so I should be able to finish this in the car tonight. After I finish that book I will proceed to read Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) – Richelle Mead. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about the Vampire Academy series and I’m very excited to read it. My way of choosing books is by drawing a book title from my TBR reading jar. I can never decide which book I want to pick up, so I draw one of the titles out and read it no matter what. I always finish series and I always always finish a book. Even if I absolutely hate it, I will continue on. Continuing on, after I finish Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy #1) – Richelle Mead I will read Blue Moon (The Immortals #2) – Alyson Noël. I liked the first book (Evermore (The Immortals #1) – Alyson Noël) but it was very different. It was insta-love, which bothers me a lot. It’s so irritating to read and so….. almost forced I would say. Like I said, I draw from my TBR jar so then all my books get a fair chance…. I feel all guilty when I see all my unread books (over 100) sitting on my shelves staring at me…..

Woah, Dere Wednesday (1)

Woah, Dere Wednesday is my own idea (applause, applause) saying what I’m currently reading. I guess it’s kind of like #FridayReads, but I wanted to be unique…. so here we go.

Currently Reading: Fury (The Fury Trilogy #1) – Elizabeth Miles

I’m really liking this book so far. The ratings haven’t been terrific on Goodreads, but I think its going to be okay. So far I’m on chapter six and page 84. This book is set in the wintertime, so right now it’s a perfect read because here in Iowa, we are getting some snow for a white Christmas. This book is telling the story of the two main characters, Em and Chase. Em is kind of irritating to me so far, because she’s a little whiny, but Chase is okay. So far Chase has gotten drunk…. so very charming. Em’s best friend is named Gabby. Emily has always had a major crush on Gabbys boyfriend, Zach McCord. She named a stuffed animal after him and everything (a little weird, but able to get used to). Gabby has no idea that Em has always liked Zach, so when she goes on vacation, she doesn’t give either of her relationships a second thought. Chase is Zach’s best friend who just so happens to meet the girl on the cover, Ty. Ty and her two cousins are supposedly coming back to the small town for a year before they all head off to college, but I believe that something deeper is going on and these mysterious girls, Ty and her cousins, will cause trouble for our two main characters in the long run.
