Tag Archives: travel in books

I was in my boring high school classes today, and I was thinking about it; I wish that I could be in books so I would get to go to really cool places. Not that I don’t pay attention in class, (…) but I do have some wandering thoughts occasionally. I am going out of the country for the first time this summer, and I’m beyond excited. I’ve always wanted to travel, and have ALWAYS wanted to travel to Europe, and I finally get to. I was also thinking about the actual likelihood that I was born in the United States in a small town in the Midwest, and it’s pretty remarkable that I got placed in such a remote town. I feel like I am meant to live in Europe and be surrounded by different accents and different languages for the rest of my life, but for now the only traveling I get to do (UNTIL SUMMER) is through books.

While doing the small amount of traveling I’ve done, I feel like I’m meant to fly across the world and see different things. I’m supposed to learn a few different languages. I am meant to live a life full of adventure, but again, the only adventure I get right now is through the books that I read.

While reading The Infernal Devices, I understood even more than normal, how I feel like I’m supposed to live in England. England is my dream to those of you who are new around here. I talk about England and traveling there at least once a day, not even kidding. Anyway, after reading about Victorian London I feel like I just need to hop on a plane right now and travel across the Atlantic.

While reading the Just One Day series, I felt like I was supposed to go to those little (somewhat sketchy) pubs all over Europe. I want to experience the outskirts of widely known places. I want to go to indie bookstores in Paris, London, Madrid. I want to drink a real Italian coffee, and eat a real French macaroon.

I feel like my real goal in life is to live for adventure. I want to travel, and fly across the oceans, and take boats across lakes, and go white water rafting, ziplining, cliff jumping, sky diving, travel by train, go to pubs in England, see the Eiffel Tower, see Buckingham Palace, visit the Harry Potter castle. I want some adventure in my life.

Also, to everyone who gets to travel often, I think it’s unfair, and you should bring me with you ;)
